What is it like in 2-8 Cav in Ft Hood Texas?

So, my assigned unit is 2-8 Cav 1ABCT and I had 2 questions. 1. How are the barracks and 2. Is it a good unit?

I left hood in 2014 but there were only a handful of old barracks when I left. They should be updated to the 1 man room w/ walk in closet & sink with a shared kitchen/laundry/bathroom for you and your neighbor. They new ones were really nice when I stayed at the WLC ones. As for the unit I'm not sure as I was in 2nd brigade not 1st but usually a pretty high op-tempo for heavy CAV units for gunnery qualifications and crew serve weapons training/quals. Every unit sucks in it's own special way, and the barracks are as good as you make them. But the dryers will always be broken.

I’m in 3-8 cav and for the most part all the barracks have been upgraded. It just depends if you get put in the overflow barracks temporarily until the can get you in theirs. It should be one man to a room and share a kitchen and bathroom. But for the unit they are all different your either gonna love it or hate it.
