Going Reserve to Active. Last time I was active was 97-02 and DADT was in full effect. Now I am married and my military spouse is my husband. Does anyone know about what its like to live on base in housing? Will he be treated same as a female spouse when it comes to living on base and FRG, etc? Having lived in the "old" Army, I feel somewhat nervous as I don't know what active duty is like after DADT and 17 years later ?

Honestly, nobody gives a shit. You're not the first gay couple anyone has seen. As long as you're a decent neighbor, no one will really care.

I think you will be fine. There a lot of old bastards here on RP that talk a lot of nonsense, but it's been my general experience that most military people and families are pretty tolerant and accepting folks. If you ever do have a problem be sure to address it though.

I liked living on posts. No trash, safety, and proximity to work was appealing.
