It took me 14 years to get here.
In general:
Traffic is terrible
The roads are terrible
The weather is amazing all year, and there is tons of stuff to do
Cost of living is generally high

Duty stations vary depending on where you are at. Schofield is a larger installation with more amenities while FT Shafter is smaller and much more rank heavy. Hawaii is like any other concrete jungle. Everything but your car registration is going to cost more. You will probably experience some discrimination from some islanders, it has a vast amount of beauty, and partake in it as much as you can, the water and sea life are incredible. And like any other big city comes congested highways and crime. It had one of the largest divorce rates for Military personnel. In fact I was part of that rate. Lastly, you may be in paradise, but your training and operations are on a high operational tempo. Good luck Sgt Roy Hale Wed, 16 May 2018 17:49:16 -0400 2018-05-16T17:49:16-04:00 2018-05-09T20:28:55-04:00
