Great topic MSG(P) (Join to see)! This is a gig topic for the Sergeant Morales and Sergeant Audie Murphy Clubs - there are many opportunities which include getting involved in organizations like the boy/girl scouts, volunteering at the VA hospitals & nursing homes, the USO facilities as well as helping out with our own organizations on post (think helping the folks at the Soldier for Life center) or taking one hour per week to help read to students at the on-post schools. Your time can have a huge impact on someone's quality of life and can be the inspiration they need in their life. You presence and example can also be what leads to a recruit later on as well (think scouts). So many opportunities. Great topic, and great to bring awareness to this opportunity during the season of giving.

Thank you for weighing in on the topic CSM Michael J. Uhlig. Sergeant Morales & Sergeant Audie Murphy Clubs are both great organizations within the Army in which Service Members can get a start on such an important duty. They also help with improving our promotion potential creating quantifiable and justifiable blocks on the NCOER and potential awards if being a positive figure in someones life is not motivation enough. There are also several civilian organizations in which anyone can volunteer with. My charge to anyone future, past and present is to find a way to be involved in your community regularly. You can do anything from serving in a soup kitchen to coaching a sports team. No matter how large or how small your effort is, i sure you that it will make a difference that lasts a lifetime.
