PT, marching, school, weekends off. I went to basic back in 1993. Infantry OSUT at Fort Benning. We had an E4 Spc who had already been in the army a little while, come to us in the MOS portion toward the end. He was treated just like a day one private. In 1997 I did ar class myself and went to AIT in Ft. Lee, VA. I was in the prior service company to attend training. It was seperate from all the others that just came out of basic. We went to school every day did PT and had evening formations like everyone but it was way laid back. No drill sergeants around us. There were platoon sergeants in charge and of course your rank does inherite some difference but all are students so there is that too when it comes to treatment. Bottom line I guess is that it depends on where you go for school and what MOS your are reclassify to. That being said though, if you reclass while you are PFC, it may feel like it. Every training post is different. As a PFC, you will still probably have to show up to safety briefings on Saturday Mornings, join them in visiting the post Museum(if there is one), PT formations, etc... You should get your weekends off and be treated somewhat better than a toddler, but you still will have to wear your PT belt Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 13 at 2015 11:53 PM 2015-02-13T23:53:19-05:00 2015-02-13T23:53:19-05:00 CW3 Private RallyPoint Member 475679

Depends on what AIT you go to. If you're reclassing, and you're active duty, you will NOT go back to Basic Training, you've already been there. You will, however, go to an AIT, and if the MOS you're going to is combat arms, the environment is quite different from support roles. Huachuca for 15w. The treatment is a bit different like others said there's still formations you do pt you go to school.
This situation here is that we do pt with the privates all the safety briefs and shit like that is with the privates as well. However for the most part you get your weekends and get a barracks room unless you pcs.
