What's the op tempo like?
How often will I be away?
Do you choose what battalion you go to?
Really need to convince the wife that this will be a good move for us.

Don't exactly know how our tempo will be with the Afghanistan draw out. In the past it was 4 months deployed and 6-7 months in America. During that time in America you are constantly training day and night. Only get scheduled leave before and after deployment, maybe a two day for Christmas if your lucky. Honestly its hard for the family from my experience, we have a saying Mother Regiment comes first, But obviously its just a joke between us.

As far as what battalion you go too, i couldn't tell you either. For me when i graduated RASP we weren't allowed to pick what battalion. But you would go to RASP 2 so hopefully they give you some leeway on which battalion. Every battalion has a great place to live at.

One thing to keep in mind is that leadership roles in regiment are required to have ranger tabs if your infantry or any combat leadership job on the line companies. I don't know how they would facilitate your pipe line, but be ready to go to ranger school as well.

Cheers SSG Jabalera i hope you do well!

I didn't mean for my response to sound like a gut check. Regiment does try very hard to give us down time. At the same time we know that training comes first

Thanks a lot for the information brother, I appreciate the honesty. This is something that I really want to do, I would do it in a heartbeat if I was single but since i have a family I have to consider them when making this decision. We'll see what happens, I still have a while to think about it

In addition to this is also our unit is so far the only unit I know of that will allow you to go home regardless where you are for family matters. Such as child birth, death of family, etc. I know others do this, but this is a no shit wherever you are they will send you home and work around your schedule.
