What is one thing that you have learned through RallyPoint? We all have at least one, if not loads.

Seems as if I learn something every day that I'm on here (which is nearly every day with the exception of weekends). Some things are highly interesting, and some things I wish I hadn't learned.
All in all, this site is the best forum I have ever seen for the free exchange of thought within the military community. Good or bad, there are always things to be learned.

If I have to come away with one thing I've learned through RallyPoint LTC Private RallyPoint Member it's the big picture that regardless of your rank, status, or tenure you can learn something from any discussion. Just because you don't post a response or even vote on a particular discussion, you can still pick up a tidbit of valuable information that you were missing before you ran into that thread. I tend to scan the discussion a little more slowly, trying to see if my opinion on a subject can be evolved into a better position.
I guess to sum it up, I'm learning to practice thinking first and acting after rather than knee-jerk posting because I'm passionate about a subject.

I have learned that CPT Private RallyPoint Member has confused the entire military on who salutes who!!

In all seriousness, I learn everyday that I am on here. The biggest thing that I have learned is that we as a whole need to get back to knowing regulations or at least where to find "the right" answer. Not only know them but also follow them and enforce them (for us NCOs).

I was surprised at how much of a need I have to connect to other current and former service-members. We all possess such a variety of opinions, and some tend to be very passionate.
When we put on that uniform, many of us, by necessity, must repress such a dimension of ourselves that we don't often get to express...
I am extremely happy that RallyPoint was conceptualized and created. LTC Yinon Weiss, and CPT Aaron Kletzing and the collaborators of this site deserve our utmost respect for recognizing the human element in our collective need for interaction and networking.
Additionally, I am consistently surprised to learn that we share so many similar experiences across the branches. We Army folks can talk shop and understand each other half a world away. But it's pretty awesome that I can log on and read experiences of members of the Navy, Air Force, and Marines, too. Just can't find that type of interaction, on this level, in many places!

I learned that across the military no matter the rank, there are always people there to talk to, and who can you open up to. I think that this site shows how close as a military family we are, without knowing some people on here personally we are willing to go out and help whoever is in need.

A few things in particular: I have re-learned how much of a need I have had to be in contact with current and former Military people. I have learned that regardless of rank, age, era of service, we all have something to contribute that will better us in many ways. I learn more every day....and some of it is re-learning what has been forgotten over the last 20+ years. I've kept in touch in general, but now I'm in touch with many more specifics.

Fairly new to the site. But in the short time here, I have learned that there is a great blended pool of knowledge available. It is always interesting to read the backgrounds of all the unique personnel that are members.

CPT Brian Maurelli, Sir service members and veterans like to talk to our own, we have a bond that civilians just do not get. It was hard taking the uniform off for the last time, it hurt a little. It is nice to still talk shop with people are still in uniform. I have also noticed military bearing is alive and well.

Its a place to bounce off ideas from other people who are in the military or are veterans. I've found it helpful for both my military career and civilian career. I have never used it for civilian employment advice, though, but I feel that most people would be willing to help with questions and experience in that regards as well.

I've learned that our common military bond connects us in a variety of ways that can have an even greater, more meaningful impact. From the troop who asks a silly question and creates a viral response to the GI who makes a desperate call for help, whether actively serving or Vietnam veteran, being a general/flag officer or a brand new E-1 - we can exchange information, ideas, suggestions, and concerns. Most importantly, we can help each other via the RallyPoint Team: find a job, make an acquaintance, refer to a needed resource, or laugh at something that only the military community would find funny.
It's great to be a part of this non-DOD military/veteran unit!

I've learned that so many of us are like minded, we look around this world and and really have no connection to anyone else. No-one really understands how and why a Vet or Service Member thinks or acts the way that he or she does. It's great to be able to see what people feel who are like minded
