Some things are highly interesting, and some things I wish I hadn't learned. <br />All in all, this site is the best forum I have ever seen for the free exchange of thought within the military community. Just because you don't post a response or even vote on a particular discussion, you can still pick up a tidbit of valuable information that you were missing before you ran into that thread. I tend to scan the discussion a little more slowly, trying to see if my opinion on a subject can be evolved into a better position.<br />I guess to sum it up, I'm learning to practice thinking first and acting after rather than knee-jerk posting because I'm passionate about a subject. We Army folks can talk shop and understand each other half a world away. But it's pretty awesome that I can log on and read experiences of members of the Navy, Air Force, and Marines, too. Just can't find that type of interaction, on this level, in many places! I have learned that regardless of rank, age, era of service, we all have something to contribute that will better us in many ways. It was hard taking the uniform off for the last time, it hurt a little. It is nice to still talk shop with people are still in uniform. I have also noticed military bearing is alive and well. I've found it helpful for both my military career and civilian career. From the troop who asks a silly question and creates a viral response to the GI who makes a desperate call for help, whether actively serving or Vietnam veteran, being a general/flag officer or a brand new E-1 - we can exchange information, ideas, suggestions, and concerns. Most importantly, we can help each other via the <a class="dark-link bold-link" role="profile-hover" data-qtip-container="body" data-id="332046" data-source-page-controller="question_response_contents" href="/profiles/332046-rallypoint-team">RallyPoint Team</a>: find a job, make an acquaintance, refer to a needed resource, or laugh at something that only the military community would find funny.<br />It's great to be a part of this non-DOD military/veteran unit!
