If there's volunteering, fundraising for Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), offer to do it. If your installation has Civil Air Patrol (CAP) where you are, join, and help with cadets, go through the whole senior !ember program you might well e allowed, ask first, OK? Don't assu!e, ask, that's all I'm saying. Keep a detailed log and written diary, not electronic, of all your tasks, for your written evals, you'll ne asked what you did. If you haven't gone with Community a college of the (CCAF), do so. Of you've got PME courses to do, get them done ASAP. Male sire your photo osmproperpy done in your file, don't assu!e, check, that's your responsibility, not that of your unit. Do PME courses in other services, register with DAMTES and get your military course transcript. Call Excelsior College, Albamy, NY, they were part of anYS gift, then privatized, very, very ,military friendly, they have their own exam program!, DANTES has their own. Do a detailed bio sketch and send it in Jere, sevlmpages, hobbies, reading, interests, tech schools you've gone through so far as you can say, what high school AP coursework you've done. Submit for ROTCmprogra!, the various military state maritime colleges, VMI, the Citadel, apply for EOCS for Army for rotary wing training all that's needed is high school, you could go interservice, tough I've heard it's a very rough program. Volunteer for enlisted drone pilot training, as well, I've seem articles tpUSAF is looking for applicants. Do the bio, detailed, the more you can send, the more I can suggest, I assure you, as I hope is evident, I give specifics, not generalities, or at least try to, OK? Your question interests !e, send more, I'll do all I can to suggest things, I need you to send me as !much bio info as you can, OK? If I grind other things, I'll try to send tjemz as well, OK?

Also, look at the preparatory schools for the academies, USAFA, Annapolis, and West Poi t, submit packets to all of them not the academies!does, the preparatory school, one airman when I was in got into USAFA where I was, so I kmow it is possible, trust me, OK?

From a recipient,

Show up early, leave late.
Extra education and volunteer bullets look good on a package.
Have a supervisor that thinks you are deserving write your package (important).
Be great at your job.
When In front of a board don't be afraid to say you do not know the answer. Just tell them that you will research the question and get back to them with an answer within a certain time frame. Know your core values, creed, and song.

Forgive for answering a question with a qurstion, "What have you done in your Air Force career to distinguish you from your peers"? "What do you bring to the table that merits you being chosen over your wingman?"

PRT. Distinguish yourself. Max your physical record test. How are you progressing on your level 2,3,4 tasks? Are you on pace or ahrad of your peers? Are you volunteering in the commiunity? What college do you have or are you in progress of attaining? Beyond that, "strive for 5" if you aten't scoring 5's in your annual evals. You need to candidly discuss with your supervisor/rater why. They should be able to offer you conctete mentorship on how to improve your performance. Lastly, if you want to be perceived as a leader carry yourself as one. Find an NCO you can emulate and always ask yourself what they would do in ypur situation.

Do the math on how much total (not monthly) extra money you’ll earn by getting BTZ. In my day it was about $500 IIRC.

Pay attention. Read the news paper. Don’t be a pain in your supervisors ass. Relax - whether you get it or not will have so very little effect on your life and career. Going into your interview stressed will mess with your head.

One thing you will learn is that there are a lot of politics involved with the Air Force. You could be the best troop and still not get recognized due to toxic leadership or whatever...don't let that get you down. That being said, focus on your job and training first then worry about BTZ and other BS awards second. If your lucky, leadership will recognize your hard work and will reward you over a brown noser... happened to me, and I got to pin on SrA 6 months before everyone else, big deal.
