What is the Army nametape font?

Is there an official Army nametape font? Only one mentioned is for names longer than 11 letters.

Wife has an embroidery machine and want to make my own.

Per DA PAM 670-1, in section 21-15, Subsection b(1), it states that the font is Last names consisting of 11 letters or more are constructed using Franklin gothic extra-condensed print (48 point) 1/2 inch high. The letters are 3/4 inch high and 1/2 inch wide. I can't find anything else. Otherwise, I would say that it is more than likely Arial font since that is the directed font for Army writing.

I would totally recommend you reach out to AAFES to see what they use.

MSG Livingston is on it, great recommendation I will add that it sounds like alotvof work for your wife based on the material, Velcro, time on the machine, trial and error, I cannot imagine her valuable time is t better spent when name tapes are so cheap, and you receive an allotment for just such maintenance of your uniform.

I know for a fact that your wife, an Army spouse has enough to deal with.

Of course it may just be a labor of love for her, if that is the case then go for it.

I make this statement out of respect for Military spouses, there hard work and sacrifices made, please don’t read anything else into my response. I know what I, the Army and my units put my wife through.

Seems like a lot of energy spent on an item that is pretty cheap, just saying.
