SPC Private RallyPoint Member 6899766 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My unit was put in for a Meritorious Unit Commendation while we were deployed, along with all the other units in our battalion, which was a mix of Active, Guard, and Reserve.<br /><br />Some have told us up to a year if not more.<br /><br />I&#39;m curious because at the time Awards Clerk was one of my additional duties and the topic has been brought up several times by some of our troops on when they will know if they should add it to their uniforms.<br /><br />I told them not to wear it until we get the word from HRC that we&#39;re authorized the award so they don&#39;t get hemmed up, because as far as we know it hasn&#39;t been approved. I have seen them come back in less than a year before but it is rare. It depends on when it was submitted. You can not wear it. It is like wearing an award just because someone put you in for it. It could get denied. However My first deployment took around two years. It could also get denied or kicked back and I&#39;m not sure how notification would flow back for that. Don&#39;t know about now, I went years without knowing about 2 MUC&#39;s and an Army Superior Unit Award that I can wear as a permanent award. You may be retired when it gets approved.
