What is the average time it takes for HRC to process a MUC for a unit?

My unit was put in for a Meritorious Unit Commendation while we were deployed, along with all the other units in our battalion, which was a mix of Active, Guard, and Reserve.

Some have told us up to a year if not more.

I'm curious because at the time Awards Clerk was one of my additional duties and the topic has been brought up several times by some of our troops on when they will know if they should add it to their uniforms.

I told them not to wear it until we get the word from HRC that we're authorized the award so they don't get hemmed up, because as far as we know it hasn't been approved.

It will take a while. I have seen them come back in less than a year before but it is rare. It depends on when it was submitted. You can not wear it. It is like wearing an award just because someone put you in for it. It could get denied.

Most of the ones I've seen have taken about three years

I got a MUC for my last deployment within a few months of returning home. However My first deployment took around two years. It could also get denied or kicked back and I'm not sure how notification would flow back for that.

It comes when it comes and if it comes, you used to be able to look at unit awards online and keep looking till the award was approved and posted. Don't know about now, I went years without knowing about 2 MUC's and an Army Superior Unit Award that I can wear as a permanent award. I found out from folks I served with and checking the unit awards

I've seen units get approved for unit awards for actions in the 40's... You may be retired when it gets approved.

Way over a year. You’ll need to call the unit’s S1/G1 or monitor the unit awards site to watch for the DA GO

No need to call in just look into the unit award archives every few months and monitor it for your unit and period of service from your deployment.

Deployed with my old unit 18-19 and got the MUC end of 2020.

My first MUC took about 5 years for the GO to populate, the 2nd took about 2 years.
