What is the best course of action if you experience reprisal due to whistle-blowing?

What do you do after blowing the whistle and your courier and life has been destroyed and nothing ever was done about it even after giving stacks of paperwork and email proof???

Depending on the severity of what you blew the whistle on, you could always hand the proof over to Wikileaks and a certain online message board known for their detective skills.

1, Who did you tell? If i wasn't someone like the IG or JAG, then you failed to push the envelope. 2. If you left it with the commander- you could have used the open door policy (Army) and gone up the chain of command. 3. If you have left this fester long enough to ruin your career and suffer thru reprisal, then it might be too late to bring it back up- but IF it was a wrong- you should at least try.

I wish I had an answer. Wouldn't it wonderful if we could just be honest with one another? Isn't it sad that "telling", "ratting out or ratting on", and all the other metaphors are negatives instead of positives. Think of all the instances, such as school shootings, when people later admitted that they had noticed something hinky about the perp but were afraid to speak up. It really is a messed up world, isn't it?

Push the envelope was the best advise I've seen here and could offer. Remember no matter what always remain respectful and in control. Once someone loses control, it's sometimes easy to dismiss what they say. Good luck.

Unless the person giving you the reprisal is the President or the CEO, they have a boss. Keep going up until someone gives you a satisfactory answer. Make sure everything is documented. If nothing else, call your Congressman.

In the military... Request mast all the way up to the CG. At each level the Command has a iron clad deadline and must respond in writing. If you still aren't satisfied, Your US Representative or Senator.

In the civilian world... Department of Labor, formal complaint.

Oh, I always tell everyone from the get go that I will Ratt you out If I see or found out that you or someone did anything wrong, good or great I will rat them out. 99% everyone is going to do the right thing because there is a rat in the house lol!

I lost my identity and most of my family but I had to do the right thing
