This is my vote for best dialogue from a military movie:
Fort Apache
Fonda: (Lt Colonel)
O'Rourke.
Ward Bond: (Sergeant Major)
Sir?
Fonda:
This Lt. O'Rourke. Are you by chance related?
Ward Bond:
Not by chance sir, by blood. He's my son.
Fonda:
I see.
How did he happen to get into West Point?
Ward Bond:
It happened by Presidential Appointment sir.
Fonda:
Are you a former officer, O'Rourke?
Ward Bond:
During the war I was a Major in the 69th NY Regiment, the Irish Brigade, sir.
Fonda:
Still, it's been my impression that Presidential appointments were restricted to sons of holder's of the Medal of Honor.
Ward Bond:
That is my impression too, sir.
Will that be all, sir?
Fonda:
Yes Sergeant, it will.

From A Bridge Too Far:
Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur:
Have you ever been liberated?
Col. Robert Stout:
I was divorced twice. Does that count?
Lt. Colonel J.O.E. Vandeleur:
Yes.
And now me: Been there, done that.

Band of Brothers
1LT Ronald Speirs to PFC Albert Blythe.
“But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you're already dead, and the sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be able to function as a soldier's supposed to function.“
