Knights of the Old Republic. Elder Scrolls. Neverwinter. Dragon Age. GTA.
Looks like you're mostly into shooters - I prefer RPGs.

Capt Richard I P. I always like playing mages - perhaps I'm showing my scientist/nerd side!

Capt Richard Porter, how about some Ace Combat love if you want military themed games?
You say you got lock on problems,
I feel bad for you son
I got 99 AIMs
Fire and forget every one.

I am also a fan of Dragon Age and World of Warcraft ... and playing mages! Although, it's been a few years since I've played much of anything. I do miss it though!

If you go by love of the brand and sales then something from the Nintendo vein will generally win out. You have:
Legend of Zelda with two of the best games ever made (Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time)
Metroid with one of the best games ever made (Super Metroid)
Mario with many great titles to choose from (Super Mario World, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Galaxy).
These series continue to impress and sell many titles each year. While I myself hate the series, I can see Call of Duty doing well on sales money alone. (I do not understand why you pay $60 a year for what is essentially an expansion pack).
I personally love the Battlefield series over the Call of Duty series as I feel the squad based combat and less arcade form of a shooter allows team work to win out over the one man army styles of Halo and Call of Duty.
I feel like you have focused on the 7th generation of consoles and beyond (PS3, Xbox360) and ignored many of the early and great series and games that have come before.

Capt Richard I P. in what way do you mean?
I would give Call of Duty a 0 on all of those (personally) while many of the Mario games would force oneself to learn a skill to complete an easy task, then master said skill to complete the game fully.
The character of Samus Aran developed well over the life of the series and the stories were generally in depth.
Legend of Zelda has some of the best characters and immersive environments if you plan to explore enough. The original in the series was hailed as being original, thought provoking, and unique as a more non linear title. It was huge for its time.

Capt Richard I P.
CPT Zachary Brooks Really a 0 on all those points? No character development for your own character in the WWII start of the franchise? Capt Price and his transplanting into the future? No thought provocation in MW2 with corrupt bureaucracies usurping national policy for their own gain? Education: realistic reloads, hand eye coordination that directly translates to real marksmanship?
I mean I liked the kids games too but the comparison is tenuous at best.
