When i was reclassed i wasn&#39;t given a choice and became an 88M, Motor Transport Operator. The unit i was put in stabilizes their new soldiers with a W code and we cannot change duty stations for 3 years. Is there any way i can get out of this and go back to the job I love before I re-enlist?<br /><br />Invite others to respond by typing @name What is the best method of changing my MOS? 2015-04-27T10:54:19-04:00 SSG Private RallyPoint Member 622194 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was in EOD school and i loved it, however i was dropped from the school and now i have to wait a year to go back and try again. You can also do some initial research on the web. It is all based on your about of time in service and if your window is available for re-enlistment. Get a 4187 authorizing reclassification and a letter of release from your CSM. Your career counselor should be your first stop. Other than re-enlisting to reclass, you will have to apply for an MOS that is listed (assuming your in/out calls allow you to leave your current MOS) Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 27 at 2015 1:47 PM 2015-04-27T13:47:06-04:00 2015-04-27T13:47:06-04:00 SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member 622862 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Re-enlist Response by SGT(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 27 at 2015 2:39 PM 2015-04-27T14:39:35-04:00 2015-04-27T14:39:35-04:00 SGT Theron Cowan 622935 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The only way is to re-enlist Response by SGT Theron Cowan made Apr 27 at 2015 3:08 PM 2015-04-27T15:08:01-04:00 2015-04-27T15:08:01-04:00 1LT A. Unfortunately, you did not meet the MOS standards and that's why you where dropped and re-classed to the Army's needs. The fact here is that the Army gave you a guaranteed contract, you did not fulfill your end of the agreement and therefor you have to re-enlist and see if you qualify or the MOS is available for you. Acheiving SGT. rank is something i have to do in the army but if i re-enlist and don't make it again I will get stuck back into this MOS. I don't mean to sound ill-natured but i have done alot of research and talked to many people in this MOS about this and they have all said the same thing. I would love another shot at the school however I am worried that the political nature of the school will cause me to be in the same situation I'm in now but with another contract and an obligation to go before a board to become an NCO. I love the military and want to stay in for a career, however in my short time here i have seen some very dishonorable things. Just need advise from others who have found themselves in similar situations. I dont know who told you that getting E-5 in 88M is a career killer as there are many opportunites for transfer within the Motor Transport specialty and I have dealt with many people who were a higher rank then E-5 within the Motor T world. Along with what everyone else in the thread, only way you can reclass is by re-enlisting and the only other way around that that i know of is to submit a packet for one of the Special Ops communities which Army does not consider EOD to be one of. Now its been a few years since I was in the Army or even an 88m but there is my two sense for what it is worth.
