You're not banging elbows with anyone else while you're trying to do your job. The driver gets to enjoy maneuvering the tank on the battlefield and has the best position for sleeping in his reclined seat and one can't argue that. As for the loader, he at least gets to stand out of his hatch for a better view when not loading rounds in the breech block for the main gun. Once you are on the tank, you will have time and experience at all positions, some more than others.Response by CPT Jacob Swartout made Sep 22 at 2017 11:28 PM2017-09-22T23:28:31-04:002017-09-22T23:28:31-04:00CPL Private RallyPoint Member2942921<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Loader definitely, you get fresh air, and only worry about the radio and slingin rounds.Response by CPL Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 24 at 2017 11:57 AM2017-09-24T11:57:26-04:002017-09-24T11:57:26-04:00PV2 Private RallyPoint Member2951647<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>DriverResponse by PV2 Private RallyPoint Member made Sep 27 at 2017 11:30 AM2017-09-27T11:30:25-04:002017-09-27T11:30:25-04:00CPL Jon McMillen2953661<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>GunnerResponse by CPL Jon McMillen made Sep 28 at 2017 6:11 AM2017-09-28T06:11:00-04:002017-09-28T06:11:00-04:00PFC George Notsoevo2955186<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Gunner or TCResponse by PFC George Notsoevo made Sep 28 at 2017 3:25 PM2017-09-28T15:25:17-04:002017-09-28T15:25:17-04:00SPC Christopher Perrien2971902<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Driver. Everyone else is just a rider.<br /><br />M1 driver's position is the most comfortable sleeping spot that has ever been invented in any tank and the best in the army next to an actual bed. It also has the best tactical view when buttoned up, others can't really see chit. Now when you're really moving it is nice to have a TC to tell you if you are about to fly off a cliff or something and to give you a general spot to head to, but besides that you really don't need anybody. Plus a driver has to stay with his tank , so the detail, guard duty, command meeting, monster can't really bite you, in the field, so you get more sleep :). Older Chrysler M1's fixed up (no gov) could do 65 or better on dirt (I only drove mine that fast once , just to see ) 1500-1800 HP. Really fun if you know what you are doing. Takes alot of work and luck to get one perfect. Gunning is boring, fun to shoot stuff( I only missed once out of about a thousand rounds-still irritates me LOL) , but the position sucks-tossed around , no idea what is going on, no room. TC 's , possible to sleep there, but not really . Same for the loader. Loading is interesting and the M240 is a riot. Suppose the M2 pintle now on the TC's is fun, but I never shot one in that set-up on a tank. Wouldn't recommend being unbuttoned on the battlefield, and in that respect the driver's position really wins. I have watched C4 sticks blow up from 30 yards away , really cool. Pretty dang safe spot to be, and can sleep there too.Response by SPC Christopher Perrien made Oct 5 at 2017 7:46 AM2017-10-05T07:46:19-04:002017-10-05T07:46:19-04:00SGT Dave Tracy2972179<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was never a real Tanker (insert joke here), but was a "Baby Tanker" for a while, having done all three tasks for a Bradley crewmember; gunner, driver and Brad commander. Being a driver, you’re the bitch of the tank. But, you can rack out with your head on the personnel heater. As a loader, you work your ass off, but you’re the TC’s baby. As a gunner, you have the perks of actually sending rounds down range, but if you ND, get ready for a swift kick to the back of the head from the TC. The TC however, is in charge of the whole tank. It’s his tank and what he says goes. Just keep that in mind.Response by LCpl Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 12 at 2018 12:42 AM2018-01-12T00:42:08-05:002018-01-12T00:42:08-05:00SSG Mike Southerntier3292460<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Gunner hands downResponse by SSG Mike Southerntier made Jan 25 at 2018 2:20 PM2018-01-25T14:20:11-05:002018-01-25T14:20:11-05:00SPC Chris Park3297842<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I loved being a driverResponse by SPC Chris Park made Jan 27 at 2018 10:24 AM2018-01-27T10:24:17-05:002018-01-27T10:24:17-05:00PVT Travis Noonan3304760<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>DriverResponse by PVT Travis Noonan made Jan 29 at 2018 4:05 PM2018-01-29T16:05:00-05:002018-01-29T16:05:00-05:00CPL Private RallyPoint Member3327332<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Gunner all day.
