Currently exploring my options, I'm within my first re-enlistment window. Something I've been trying to research is how to become an OC/T but I haven't had much luck.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. What is the best route to become an OC/T? 2019-12-08T02:49:47-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 5319647

I'm a Mortuary Affairs Specialist (92M) in the army reserves. Are you aware of the unit locator functions? Are you interested specifically in Mortuary Affairs OC/T or would a non MOS specific interest you as well? You're a relatively new Soldier just out of BLC and not even finished your first enlistment. An OC/T, whether at the CTCs, 84th Training Command or First Army, look for people with years of experience in their MOS and with some seniority. They target E-7 to E-9 and O3+ with Company Command and higher staff experience. I've done OC/T work for years, so my advise is to concentrate on honing your skills as a 92M, get some experience doing your trade per Army Standards (what right looks like), and keep on top of what is changing in your career field (doctrine). Become a section leader and deploy either downrange or to several CSTXs for a few rotations then when your a mid-grade NCO look into OC/T work. Its that level of expertise these units are looking for. Enjoy your time in the unit. It will go fast so learn all you can. You can try contacting these organizations (SOTD at JRTC) and seeing if they would be interested in you. At this point they normally want a seasoned person who can use that experience to assist in providing valuable insights to training units. That being said you will never know without asking, so if this is what you want go for it. All NCO positions are SSG or higher.

Engage your brnach, personally call them in order to get on the radar for a position like this in a couple years. Its a fantastic assignment. I was sceptical at first, but well worth it. You can be a guest OCT or oct augmentee..... but you gonna be looking to wait for a hot minute....like try picking up E7 then you can apply for permanent party OCT positions Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 8 at 2019 12:23 PM 2019-12-08T12:23:29-05:00 2019-12-08T12:23:29-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 5321393

There's not a route to it, you simply get assigned to a Combat Training Center once you're an NCO, typically a Senior NCO. The idea is to observe people in your MOS. I don't think they have any 92M OC's because there's nothing particular about your job that would be affected in a CTC rotation. Or wait to be assigned. Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 11 at 2019 8:25 PM 2019-12-11T20:25:15-05:00 2019-12-11T20:25:15-05:00 2019-12-08T02:49:47-05:00
