For example, do not be reactive and say you will wait for their call back. Rather say something about looking forward to continuing the conversation in a day or two. It also helps to get their email address and follow up the interview with an email thanking them again for their time, answering a question you might have missed during the interview and again ending with a call to action. It's best to be proactive than reactive.
