What is the best way to close an interview?

If I feel good about the interview and the people I am going to work with and after I've asked a bunch of questions. They ask, "Have you got anymore questions?"

Then I say, "Last question, when do I start?"

Has never failed.

The job I have now, during my interview I was told that there was also another person in contention for the same position. At the end of the interview, the person across the desk asked me if there was anything else I would like to add before the interview was over....I said "Break it nicely to the other guy that I was picked and not him."

Shake the interviewers hand firmly, look them in the eye and state I am the person for this job! And the n the daily salutation.
