Someone recently came back and said guys were paying $300 a month for internet but there’s gotta be a better way right? Certain deployed areas will have one....maybe two......businesses that provide internet. And those would be your only options. Same with cell service. But, depending on where you are going, call your cell provider and see if your phone will work there. In your quest for info Be careful not to tie too many things together, unless of course your unit and it’s proposed locations are known by the general public. Thank you for your service. If you need a SIM card phone those are also usually cheaply available. Calling usually costs around 25 cents a minute, but you can always use WhatsApp, Skype, FaceTime, etc. for free with either WiFi or data.
As for internet, some places might have free WiFi, but usually there are internet services you can pay for each month, or you can buy a portable WiFi puck that requires a SIM card or app that is sometimes cheaper. It as all about supply and demand. When you go over there you will see everything is more expensive there because they know you get paid a little more and will pay almost anything for the creature comforts you are used to. That $300 might of been satellite internet they sometimes have. Without getting into details you will only know how it will be until you get there or ask someone through secure channels who is there now.

If you are talking some place like Korea they have pretty fast internet and is more reliable than other countries you would deploy to.
