What is the best way to start a career working with Veterans?

Hello everyone.
Here is the deal. I have been working in the education world as a teacher/coach for approximately 18ish years. I've hit that point where I'm considering a career change and while thinking about what I'd want to do, working with Veterans would be something I'd have a strong desire to do. With that being said, I have no idea where to look or what to even look for.
To keep this thing shorter than a Thursday afternoon safety brief (before a 4 day)...can anyone point me in the direction or know someone I can reach out to?
I'd appreciate any and all help!

Working with veterans is a calling. If you thought a teacher's wages were miserable, you should see those who work with veterans. Sure, there are some government employees in the upper GS levels. They may earn decent wages but I can't imagine how they derive and satisfaction from their jobs other than the money and benefits. Meanwhile, members of the VFW, American Legion, DAV, and countless other charitable agencies, include many, many community based groups, toil for the benefit of veterans with great job satisfaction balanced against great frustrations, and no wages. Yes, there are some charities who collect contributions for the benefit of veterans. Sadly, many (maybe most) of those donations find their way into non-veteran pockets. Bleak? Sure.

To be upfront...I knew the teacher pay scale before I went to college. Just like I knew the Soldier's pay scale when I joined the Army (after teaching). If any teacher tries to complain to you about their pay ask them what they think about the support staff pay. The people holding the support staff positions, in a growing rate, have more contact/influence with students than the teacher who is demanding more pay.

SPC Nate Lamphier - I taugh school for years, four as a special educator and 12 as a computer teacher in the middle school. I had special education aides who were phenomonal, some with degrees and all with a great amount of hands on contact with students and they are paid peanuts and they don't get paid for the summers off like we did!

SFC William Farrell - It is a sad state we live in. The teachers I know personally who complain about teacher pay are the same ones who live outside their means while degrade the work the ones who truly deserve a higher rate along with salary pay. They are also the ones who push their personal agendas in the classroom.

SPC Nate Lamphier - As a teacher myself I know the pay isn't the greatest but I don't really care. I have no mortgage or car payments and I don't owe anyone anything. I spend the equivalent of a car payment on my classes every month between supplies for student, the classroom and snacks for my kids. I looked into working at the V.A. once upon a time and they pay even less than teachers! If I were going to quit teaching (which I'm not anytime soon even though I could have retired seven years ago) I'd probably go to the V.A.

SGT Lorenzo Nieto You mean when we return and the family or the guys who were not deployable tell us what changed and why can't we go back to how we were "before we left"?
