Whatever is appropriate to the task. There is no "one size fits all". A short-barrel carbine is little use to a Sniper, and a sniper rifle is little use to a team clearing an urban area.

The M1 American kid. Infinitely adjustable, can work with a huge variety of accessories and accoutrements, tough, resilient in all weathers, capable of self maintenance in most environments. Will storm the gates of Hell if properly led. However, the M1 American kid does gripe a lot.

I'm partial to the C-130 aircraft in general, so my vote goes to the AC-130. It is one of the most flexible and efficient close air support weapons system ever fielded. The A-10 is a close second for me, and it can operate in a less permissive environment. If you consider bombing missions (from interdiction to strategic bombing) then the B-52 is the oldest and boldest weapon system. It can deliver iron bombs, smart bombs, cruise missiles, and nuclear weapons.

"THE DILLON" M134 Mini Gun it's a 6 barrel rotory machine gun that fires 2,000 to 6,000rpm of 7.62 ammo. You can literally mow the grass with this weapon and you have probally saw it in the movie Preditor where they fight the pred in the forest. It carries around 2400 rounds and weighs around 300 pounds fully loaded with charger...two man weapon for sure...unless your Aronold.
