What is the Civil Affairs training pipeline for junior officers in the reserves? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-civil-affairs-training-pipeline-for-junior-officers-in-the-reserves

I recently received news that I've been slotted for a 38A position with a Civil Affairs unit upon commissioning in May. I was unaware that 2LTs are able to hold 38A slots, so now I'm wondering what training courses I have to look forward to after graduation and commissioning and what the training timeline is going to be like. Does anyone know what this means for my branch assignment/BOLC and what follow-on training I'll have to go to once I complete BOLC? Is the qual course different for Active and Reserve component officers? Any help would be much appreciated. Basically they could hold the team leader slots which are nearly all O3 because of the 2 up rule. You're allowed to hold a slot that is 2 grades above your rank. The LTs that held those positions just hung out there until it was time for them to make CPT. Once they got CPT, it was a fierce competition amongst all captains in entire USACAPOC for a slot to Captain Career Course in order to be CA aoc qualified. 2LT Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 10 Oct 2018 19:34:34 -0400 2018-10-10T19:34:34-04:00 Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 7 at 2020 11:48 AM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-civil-affairs-training-pipeline-for-junior-officers-in-the-reserves?n=5422392&urlhash=5422392

2LT Ellrodt,
Looks like you were able to commission directly into the 38A position because you went Reserves. Congratulations! I see that a few are surprised, but this seems to be the case with MI officers also, who can commission directly into 35A (instead of branch detailing) if they opt for the reserve forces vs. active duty.

I'm not sure if you still lurk these forums but are you able to provide any information on what it's been like to be a reserve 38A this past year?
