What is the deployment rate of national guard units?

Does anyone have figures on the deployment rates of national guard soldiers, reserves, and active duty? I'm asking this out of curiosity.

Most Guard units were on a 5 year cycle. That's gone by the wayside now, it's like pulling hen's teeth to find a deployment to jump on. It's over. It really is.

At this moment deployments are very scarce with only active duty moving personnel in not so great numbers either.

Usually reservists deploy more often than NG just because they are a direct asset for the federal government, but the NG is a state asset, and it is up to the state to decide if sending any of their troops in a deployment rotation.

My unit just ended it's "ready year" and now we are going back to what's called reset. Every IBCT goes through it, like the good SGT said, a five year cycle. The model says we should be ready again to deploy in another five years, in reality if they needed more brigades they could have several that have pieces and parts ready to go. Iraq/Syria is the most likely, followed by Afghanistan and then eastern Europe or Africa if you follow the news. The next President will have a lot to say about when and where Guard units go. You should always prepare yourself and your family and employer for the "when" and not the "if," you deploy during your military career. Don't scare them though, just listen to your leadership, they have good clues as to who's going and when.

1 year deployed with 2 year guaranteed dwell time at home for individual soldiers. Units have a five year rotational cycle. Individuals can rotate more often as fillers or volunteers.

Highly dependent on the type of unit and mission. Civil Affairs still has what is likely the highest deployment rate in the USAR. On any given day, I have 88 Soldiers deployed to Djibouti with a few others on individual deployments in Europe or stateside. I ensure all Soldiers get a one year dwell time. The 5 year cycle simply does not work for CA, Psyops, IO, etc.

Depends on a number of factors. For Ohio the standard rate is about 3 years. Year one is reset. Year two is training and sustainment, and Year 3 is train up for mission. Year 4 would be your deployment and at your return you go back to Year 1.

My unit went to Iraq in 2011, and right now we're in the NCR on Operation Noble Eagle. Few more years and we'll either be in Afghanistan or the NCR again.

Not sure it helps though. Always best to ask your chain of command for those kinds of questions as it varies on unit and mos and state.

Contact Office of the Secretary of Defense for Reserve Affair (OUSD/RA) (google their website which may also post the stats in their reports). They maintain all those stats gathered from each component. Note, statistics will often track and report Mobilizations, but not voluntary routine rotators that may not be set up as part of a Contingency (congress didn't declare war) so numbers tend to report lower.

Google "ARFORGEN". The USAR and NG are on a 5 year cyle. By the 5th year, known as the "Available" year, a unit is supposed to have all the personnel, equipment and training in order to deploy.

If you volunteer for a deployment, that deployment does not count towards your 5 year dwell time.

As a whole unit. Not that often but, getting grabbed to fill in. That's a different story. After a year back I was already being asked to go again.
