It seems both options have the same process and outcome so I don’t understand why there is a reclass option when one can just put in a SFAS packet and still get the same outcome. If I choose to reclass 18 series, does that mean I will get reassigned to SWC in an 18X type of slot where I will go to SOPC then SFAS? I asked my retention about this but he was unable to give me an answer. What is the difference and what are the benefits of choosing the reclass option. Thank you in advance. The only way to become qualified is through the Q-Course. Therefore you must attend the course and successfully complete it prior to re-class. The Q course determines whether or not one gets into the series. Following that there are many more requirements depending upon you specialty within through which one would be qualified or disqualified. The reason the packets are the same is there is only one path. It is an admirable goal and I wish you all the best. Thank you for your service. Being selected through SFAS is how you get your acceptance memo. You take that to your career counselor who processes your Reclass. 18X is an option that is only offered to initial entry personnel.
