What is the Direct Commission timeline of events?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This question is for anyone who received a Direct Commission, either in 2018, or in recent years. In October 2018, I was notified of my selection to become a 72D, Environmental Science and Engineering Officer (I'm presently a MSG in the Air Force). I began trying to piece a timeline of events (my recruiter was somewhat helpful) of how things would progress from there. I've narrowed it down to: 1) Notified of selection (October); 2) Sign the DA71, Oath (December); 3) Orders will drop (Feb); 4) Attend the DCC course (June-ish). <br /><br />My question is: for those who joined the Army via direct commission (notably AMEDD officers), did your timeline flow along those lines? I'm at the stage where I'm awaiting orders, and attempting to gauge a rough timeline of what happens next for planning purposes. <br /><br />Thanks in advance!Thu, 31 Jan 2019 16:54:39 -0500What is the Direct Commission timeline of events?

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>That's close but not quite it. I direct commission but also prior service. I'm reserves. I was notified of selection and then I waited what seemed like ages for my scroll. When the scroll finally came through, I was able to go take my oath of office and sign my contract. I was notified near the end of December (2017). My scroll was approved at the end of February (2018) and I commissioned March 23, 2018.2LT Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 31 Jan 2019 21:12:30 -05002019-01-31T21:12:30-05:00Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 31 at 2019 10:53 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently awaiting orders as well. I was selected during the last October board, scroll approval came back 1 week before Christmas, and I swore in the Friday before Christmas. I recently had to re-sign my contract because the incentives changed and was told that the timeline would be kicked back another month. My recruiter was unsure if I need to go to DCC because I am prior service. Based on what I am reading on RallyPoint and other websites all direct commissioned officer will attend DCC and BOLC. I have no idea when I may be attending those courses. I have had to dig for most information. I will update you if and when I get any news.1LT Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 31 Jan 2019 22:53:02 -05002019-01-31T22:53:02-05:00Response by 1LT Private RallyPoint Member made Feb 1 at 2019 1:40 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently an active duty 72D but I commissioned so long ago it isn't relevant - the only really useful piece of advice I have is get into 6A-F5/6 as soon as you can. It is goingto set you up for success not on as a EESO but also for promotion past Captain.MAJ Private RallyPoint MemberMon, 04 Feb 2019 12:58:06 -05002019-02-04T12:58:06-05:00Response by CPT Private RallyPoint Member made Apr 5 at 2019 4:49 PM

<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>My only experience with this, and it is hearsay, was in the early 1990s at PSF. I noticed a sudden influx of butter bar nurses, but in their late 40s and 50s. They said that they wanted to join to help in Iraq situation. Pretty straight forward, did paper work, including agreement that they could not serve long enough to retire. Received a Reserve Commission in the AUS with concurrent call to AD and trained at Sam Houston on abbreviated schedule and sent to Letterman. All this before Desert Storm started. So AMEDD can move fast if it wants to.MAJ Ronnie ReamsFri, 08 Nov 2024 11:54:43 -05002024-11-08T11:54:43-05:002019-01-31T16:54:39-05:00
