What is the general battle rhythm or work life like in the 82nd airborne? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-general-battle-rhythm-or-work-life-like-in-the-82nd-airborne

I have a report date in the first quarter of the year. I'm trying to get an idea of what work the usual work schedule(I'm aware things may not be set in stone). I'm asking so I can sit down with the mother of my son and discuss a scheduling plan to have shared time between the both of us regarding our son. Does the 82nd work 5 or 6 days a week?8,10 or 12 hours a day? How long is PT usually? Any information you think I should know don't hesitate to reach out. I tried contacting my sponsor but no response. I called a phone number online for the brigade I'm suppose to report to but the phone keeps ringing. If you know of any areas around the base to find a apartment I would appreciate that too. Thanks for everything. Four day weekends every month of course. SPC Elijah J. Work call is 9:00/9:30. Most days end 1600-1730.
The 82nd is a train, it's always on schedule and they already have a set way of doing everything they do. You know exactly what you're going to do because it's the same thing over and over every year. You'll jump into a JOAX several times a year, you'll go to NTC, then you'll deploy, then you'll reset. Then do it all over again. At the least, you could get a hold of someone in HHC who might be able to tap your sponsor on the shoulder.

I have been through both the 82nd and the 101st. For schedules and predictability, what matters is what the command teams are doing. So, getting to talk to your sponsor or someone else who is present is the best way to get the pulse. Good luck. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Thu, 27 Oct 2022 11:40:55 -0400 2022-10-27T11:40:55-04:00 Response by MAJ Ronnie Reams made Oct 27 at 2022 2:10 PM https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-general-battle-rhythm-or-work-life-like-in-the-82nd-airborne?n=7952645&urlhash=7952645

Maybe dated info, but was 1 Bde up, 1 Bde training and 1 Bde post support. 1 company from up Bde locked down in old, old Division area near green ramp. PT formation at 05:30 starting and ending at 7:30. Hours vary depending on unit and MOS. Sometimes 8 if you are combat support. Sometimes longer if you are 11 bang bang or other combat arms, but many times it will be back at work at 09 after PT and work until 5 or 5:30 unless you are working in the motor pool late, chute shake for JOAX or airborne ops, on CQ or other longer duty positions. You will get a lot of 4 days and there will be some fun but a lot of suck too, so embrace it. It is what it is and what you make of it.
