What is the greatest threat facing our nation today?

America is not the nation she once was. We are being attacked from within and without. No matter what the numbers show, Americans are being decimated in the work force by Obamacare (working less than 40 hours per week) and by illegal immigrants claiming jobs at a much cheaper rate, along with the free trade agreement sending many of our jobs overseas. But enough of my diatribe! I would like to know what you feel the greatest threat is and what we can do together to confront these threats!

I would argue that one of the greatest threats to our nation is our ever shrinking pool of citizens eligible for military service. When ~70% of the population is ineligible to fight in our military IMO there's a problem that needs to be addressed.

While we were doing our PO indoc class, we were discussing our oath. In particular the following part:

"I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me"

I posed the question to the class- We swear to defend the Constitution against all enemies, it states domestic as well...then we swear to obey the President and all officers appointed over us. My question is what happens when the President doesn't abide by the Constitution?

I swear you could have heard a cricket hiccup....The subject was changed immediately and I stated "wow, we are not even allowed to discuss it?" Truth is, we are not. If we want to keep our jobs serving our country we are not allowed to question the President. If an officer in our command is doing the wrong thing, and trying to get others to follow, we are told to respectfully address it or bring it up to someone who can, but if it is our President, we are not allowed to question anything he does.....what is up with that?! Notice we swear to defend the Constitution BEFORE we swear to obey the President. I think America is being torn apart from the inside, if we are a nation divided, we cannot stand together against ANY threats for long.

The biggest threat to our Nation is the irresponsible Government currently in place. It needs to go back to the way that our Founding Fore Fathers originally established it; that is that those positions were not meant to be a life long job. All of them have established an extreme power base which is being constantly abused.

The benefits which these officials are getting needs to be stopped or at minimum reduced. When we have Veterans who are homeless and without food while they are living high on the hog it is ridiculous!

To add to what you mentioned PO1 Steven Kuhn, although we were originally a melting pot we cannot have a ton of immigrants come here and be allowed to do things that Honest Tax Payers work hard to get to include those who worked even harder to become proper citizens!

If we are expected to have any sort of Socialized Medical Care then we need to lighten up on some other things in order to afford it. What I mean is instead of penalizing prostitution it needs to be regulated and taxed as in some paces in Europe. I also believe that Marijuana should be sold and taxed. Both of these things if properly managed could get this country out of debt and relieve some strain on our law enforcement officers.

I have to agree with SGT Private RallyPoint Member, many of the youth in America are not eligible for Military Service which is also weakening us greatly. With the advent of technology and the lack of forethought this generation puts everything out there for all to see without thought of the consequences. Then when they are penalized they do not understand. It is insane!

Again our Government printing money and reducing its value.

Basically there needs to be a total overhaul in D.C.

Political Correctness, MRE's, Automatic Teller Machines, Red Bull, Democrats, Republicans, Flip Flops, Cowboy Boots, the death of John Holmes and Marilyn Chambers just to name a few.

But the worst threat facing our great nation today is the fact that there's a divisions worth of Soldiers that cannot score a measly 300 fucking points on an APFT. I swear it's these douchbags that need to be QMP'd/QSP'd IMMEDIATELY with no chance to appeal. I don't give a rats ass if they've earned the MOH for rescuing a brigade size element using just a paper clip and Styrofoam cup. These sorry sumbitches are a drain on our military and a burden to those true hero PT studs out there who have made our military the greatest the world has ever seen.

"SSG your squad had zero alcohol related accidents for the last four years, you've mentored five Soldiers who have maxed their civilian education, won numerous Soldier of the Month Boards, maxed their promotion boards, all were promoted in the secondary zone, your whole squad earned the EIB on the first attempt with zero (0) NO-GO's. I think it is apathy and entitlement. We need to get back to a point where people wanted to earn what they have and care what is happening in the world, not just the minutia of what impacts. them directly.
