I returned from deployment three months ago, and I have submitted an AGR packet for the upcoming board in March. I understand slots are given by the needs of the Army and I will most definitely take what is offered (if offered) due to the chances of receiving an offer is rare. I want to get a picture of how likely is it for a 42A at my rank to be offered a slot in Reserve AGR and what are my chances at being placed in Texas. I know Texas might be a highly requested place, possibly. What is the likelihood of being selected for Reserve AGR and obtaining a slot in Texas? 2019-02-06T22:10:15-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 4347411 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am currently a 42A Specialist with BLC completed and F5 qualifier (Postal). And yes, it&#39;s a highly requested state. Last I checked the commanding general, who visited us AGRs and yes she&#39;s also a 42B CMF officer, said that AG is over-strengthened. They&#39;re looking for AGR recruiters as that is a most needed #1 priority. They&#39;re trying to down size 42A AGR or are not focusing on recruiting 42A AGR due to its over-strength numbers. However, if you&#39;re one of the lucky few to actually get chosen it&#39;s highly unlikely you&#39;ll get your station/state of choice. I just got lucky to get mines because they&#39;re in dire need at the time. Furthermore, if you are lucky to get chosen you will get stationed somewhere you won&#39;t want to be especially since you&#39;re a first term AGR; they pick/offer you where it&#39;s most needed at the time they offer it to you. If you don&#39;t want what&#39;s offered you&#39;ll get passed over to the next qualified candidate. It&#39;s highly selective who they pick. It&#39;s even more difficult to get your station of choice especially as a first term AGR. If you were an E5 or above I&#39;d recommend you submit your recruiter packet instead. You have a higher chance of getting selected. The truth is harsh on the ears but I speak on my experience.
