What is the likelihood of losing my GI Bill benefits if I get chaptered for APFT failure?

Not going to pass blame or give excuses, I've let myself go. I failed my last APFT in October 2017 immediately before my unit deployed to Iraq. I'm now in my final month of the deployment and was notified of an upcoming PT test. I was also made understood that if I am to fail this test, chapter paperwork will be initiated. I have 4 months left in my contract, which is set to end December 1st of this year. Being this close to the end, and already looking at schools to attend, I would like to know what the likelihood of me losing my GI bill would be.

It's classified as an honorable discharge. You won't lose any benefits, but they do put in the remarks on you DD-214 that you couldn't meet standards.

Unless it is medical, you need to be chaptered out. You had a year to work on passing. I would not want you in my unit if I deployed. You had already given up!

Sounds like the unit is maybe trying to light a fire under you to get you to pass. If your that concerned you have time.

It is very unlikely that you will lose GI Bill for APFT chapter.
