What is the lowest gt score in the Army? And why does the Army require that soldiers have a 110 or above?

GT isn't that important. It's extrapolated from portions of the ASVAB. Not all MOS' have a GT requirement at all.

I believe the lowest to be 0 (I could be wrong), Band has no requirement that I know of as they have a degree in their specialty. The remainder is 90 or there about for the low and 110 for the high. The 110 or above usually applies for SF and many technical MOS's that relate to radar, missiles etc.

I don't know what the lowest GT score in the Army is, but--if we were to look at individuals' scores--I bet I've served with a few contenders for it!

GT score is MOS dependent.

I don't know but I've seen people get really low scores and they got better jobs then me.

I believe officers need a 110.

Your GT score is really only important when it comes to promotions to the higher ranks, reenlisting and going to any schools. Talk with your unit reup NCO, or the S3 Schools NCO (do they still have one?) They can explain it's importance.

The GT score is complied from your Word Knowledge (WK), Paragraph Comprehension (PC) [These two scores are combine to make your VE score], and your Arithmetic Reasoning (AR) scores.

These are a measure of general reasoning ability as well as basic communication skills. This is the reason why the military considers it to be so important for their troops and especially their leaders.

The 110 requirement is only for Officer and Warrant Officer selection and MOS's that require a strong aptitude in some or all of the sub-categories. These include, Journalist MOS's, Recruiting MOS's, and Special Forces. The rest have lower GT requirements, or do not have GT requirements.

The Army doesn't require Soldiers to have a 110 or above...a 100 is recommended for many enlisted assignments (i.e., Drill Sergeant, Recruiting, Nominative/Special Assignments...105 and 107 for special operations) and 110 or above for commissioning opportunities.
