I Basic Training the DS said always place your poncho in the top map flap. Has stuck with me 19 years.

DS instructs me, "take your mask off"

PV2 Pate, remembering prior training where he learned only to unmask at the command "All clear" replies, "That's not proper command DS"

Lesson learned: it's not always to you advantage to be clever.

The one thing that has stuck with me the most is proper military bearing and discipline. This applies to all areas of a person's life and is beneficial to follow.

I also remember to never walk on the grass...
