We all know the Military is going through another round of drawdown.  The Army recently published messages for officer separation boards and enhanced selected early retirement boards.  What is the most important thing to plan for with these boards?

I guess it would be to take an honest assessment of your career to determine if you will be subject to this board.  Then immediately start your transition planning.

I learned as much as I could about the board, the population I am reviewed against, made some assumptions and planned accordingly.  In my estimate I am at risk for the board.  I've updated my files and my photo and my resume.  If I am retained great, if I'm not I'm already in the right mindset and ready to apply for jobs.

Its not just officers, they have been doing QMS/QMP boards for SRNCO's for about the last 4 years, and I believe it will start to get harder to get promoted and to be retained on both sides.
