Recruiting because of all the skills you learn! Like typing, excel, contract writing, marketing, market analysis, statistics, and how to hire or fire people based on qualifications!

I've just completed the Training With Industry (TWI) Program. Working a year with Industry is as real as it could ever get in terms of experience. If I left the Army today, I'd have a top paying job waiting for me with one of those corporate organizations. I've earned their trust, and now they are now confident in my abilities to fulfill my obligations!!
- PMP Certification Training is also an absolute must! WOILE offers this course online in the DL phase.

TWI, I believe that I've missed the but on that. I wished that I would of applied a few years ago, but I was too busy trying to change the Ordnance world one motor pool at a time. Now that I'm at TACOM, I get to interact with many Defense contracting agencies that are supporting the warfighter, but it's not the same as your TWI experience. As for PMP, I'm currently doing the DL phase for WOILE and I haven't seen that block yet.

Before I left Fort Bliss, The Senior Ordinance Chief held an OPD which included broadening assignments. He understood well; if not more than any, how easy it is to get caught up in our daily area of expertise. He encouraged and challenged all to get out of their comfort zones and seek those broadening assignments. He invited me; the only QM soldier in the room, to come out and give a short briefing about the TWI packet submission since I'd just got selected. I brought with me copies of my packet and examples both good and bad packets, but at the end of it all the copies stayed on the desk. Everyone was too busy to take a look. They were more concerned with the up coming field mission. You see; we have access to great KM but we often short ourselves! I think TWI is a great KM source which remind us of what working on the outside is about.

I can't believe anyone didn't pick up those packets. Would you mind sending me your packet on digits?

Jungle Operations and Training Course in Panama 1981. It taught me that against all preconceptions, those old OD green flack vests are flotation devices and that being a weak swimmer does not mean that you should not be on the bridge team or be slowed down when crossing wide, deep, swift rivers with all of your gear and the f- - - --- PRIC 77 (and not get caught in the shark nets)! And at the end of the day my squad set the squad time record on "Green Hell" in July of '81. I came back to my unit and earned an EIB that fall. Good times....
