What is the path for a prior marine joining the army? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-path-for-a-prior-marine-joining-the-army

Hello all,
My situation: I'm prior service Marine with my previous MOS being 0321 (recon) and I'm looking to get back into the dirt. I was discharged from the MC in june 2015 and am now looking to go the 18x route in the Army.
My Question: What is the path forward assuming I'm able to get my hands on an 18x contract. Will I have to attend Basic/OSUT? My recruiter has been telling me that I'm going to be able to go to a 2 week integration course and head to selection from there. This does not sound correct based upon my findings scouring the internet, but maybe I’m finding bum scoop. My understanding is that the typical path would be
OSUT => Airborne => SFPC => SFAS
The reason that I pointed out my previous MOS was in case holding an infantry job in my prior service makes any difference moving forward in the Army. I've attended Airborne during my time in the MC so I'm guessing that that'll be one obstacle removed from my path, but again, I'm very unclear as to what to expect initially. If anyone has any experience in this area I’d appreciate any insight.
thanks Thu, 28 May 2020 19:28:08 -0400 What is the path for a prior marine joining the army? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-path-for-a-prior-marine-joining-the-army

Hello all,
My situation: I'm prior service Marine with my previous MOS being 0321 (recon) and I'm looking to get back into the dirt. If 0321 converts to 11B, you should only need to go to selection then the q course. You can come in as an 11B and request Airborne, then go to SFAS as soon as you get to your first duty station. Or, you could hold out for 18X, ship when your slot is ready, and if you fail the Q Course or get hurt you will be reclassed to the needs of the Army. I went the 18x route luckily I made it. If you are infantry qualified you do not have to go to osut but if you’ve been out for a while you will have to start osut at the weapons qualification portion. If you are not airborne qualified then you will need to go to airborne once that’s accomplished you’ll be driven to for Bragg on a bus to start sfpc, SFAS and begin the Q.
