What is the process for a prior service member to enlist? Do they go back to BCT or is there a separate process for prior service?

So Currently going through the paces to re-up as PS. What's the dilly, my recruiter is fairly new and still a SPC he's a good dude however? Not able to answer a few questions or is unsure of them. So is it back to full own BCT or is there a separate line item for PS?

Your question really hurt my head but I’ll try to answer best to my knowledge. If you’re saying your “Prior Service” and enlisting back into the service, if you had been out of the service for 3 years or longer, you will have to attend basic training again. If it is less then that, then when you choose your Mos, you will get a report date for your AIT (If you are choosing a New Mos)

a SPC as a recruiter- damn doubtful, The lowest Recruiter who was school trained I ever saw was an E6

I haven't seen an active duty Corporal Recruiter since the surge over a decade ago. Maybe you're talking about a Reserve Component recruiter.

If it's an Active Duty Recruiter they are part of a station and have a station commander who can answer your questions

SPC Brandon Edwards If this recruiter can't answer your questions and doesn't know where to find the answers I would find a new recruiter. It is his job to get the answers to your questions.

Go see a Recruiter with documents in hand. They need this over hearsay when determining your eligibility. They should be able to go from there. Prior Service enlisted joining Marines almost always go to MCRD.

When I did what you're trying (USN/USMC PO3 to USA PFC), I lost at least one rank. A fellow prior service Army buddy, lost three to a PV2 because he was out for 6 years - both of us were Nam combat vets. Because he was out 6 years, and I was prior Navy, we both had to do BCT again. USAF prior servcie had to do BCT also.
That was some years ago (1971) and a lot has probably changed. Isn't there a more senior Recruiter that could answer your questions???? I've never known of a SPC to be an actual Recruiter - not saying it can't happen ... just surprised for the very reason you're experienced - inexperience.
As for "dilly," WHAT?
Finally, as PS (prior service), you'll likely go back in the same MOS meaning it's not available to switch MOS' like I (eventually) was able to do, so that's ANOTHER question you might need answered unless your original MOS is okay for you.

I doubt the spc was a full time recruiter, although I have seen some lower enlisted do hometown recruiting for "X" amount of days in between AIT and their duty station. I'd say find out who their 1st sgt is and talk to him, or the commander if you can get in touch with him.
