SPC Brandon Edwards 7113770 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So Currently going through the paces to re-up as PS. What&#39;s the dilly, my recruiter is fairly new and still a SPC he&#39;s a good dude however? Not able to answer a few questions or is unsure of them. So is it back to full own BCT or is there a separate line item for PS? What is the process for a prior service member to enlist? Do they go back to BCT or is there a separate process for prior service? 2021-07-16T22:42:14-04:00 SPC Brandon Edwards 7113770 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So Currently going through the paces to re-up as PS. If you’re saying your “Prior Service” and enlisting back into the service, if you had been out of the service for 3 years or longer, you will have to attend basic training again. If it is less then that, then when you choose your Mos, you will get a report date for your AIT (If you are choosing a New Mos) Response by SGT Kevin Sewell made Jul 16 at 2021 11:13 PM 2021-07-16T23:13:45-04:00 2021-07-16T23:13:45-04:00 SGM Bill Frazer 7113880 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>a SPC as a recruiter- damn doubtful, The lowest Recruiter who was school trained I ever saw was an E6 Response by SGM Bill Frazer made Jul 17 at 2021 12:40 AM 2021-07-17T00:40:25-04:00 2021-07-17T00:40:25-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 7113981 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I haven&#39;t seen an active duty Corporal Recruiter since the surge over a decade ago. They need this over hearsay when determining your eligibility. They should be able to go from there. Prior Service enlisted joining Marines almost always go to MCRD. A fellow prior service Army buddy, lost three to a PV2 because he was out for 6 years - both of us were Nam combat vets. Because he was out 6 years, and I was prior Navy, we both had to do BCT again. USAF prior servcie had to do BCT also.<br />That was some years ago (1971) and a lot has probably changed. Isn&#39;t there a more senior Recruiter that could answer your questions???? I&#39;ve never known of a SPC to be an actual Recruiter - not saying it can&#39;t happen ... just surprised for the very reason you&#39;re experienced - inexperience.<br />As for &quot;dilly,&quot; WHAT?<br />Finally, as PS (prior service), you&#39;ll likely go back in the same MOS meaning it&#39;s not available to switch MOS&#39; like I (eventually) was able to do, so that&#39;s ANOTHER question you might need answered unless your original MOS is okay for you.
