Release hard to come by if your current unit is under strength. Don’t let anyone tell you No without asking to see them in person to plead your case. In the USAR that's the Commanding General. A few years ago they produced a policy that says they expect all Soldiers to honor their commitment to the USAR unless dire financial circumstances prevent the Soldier from doing so. That means that unless you meet this requirement your Commander is not supposed to endorse your conditional release. If you think you're going to "demand an audience" or "don't take no for an answer" to the General, you will be disappointed.
