I just reenlisted after six years I can probably answer a lot of your questions.Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 20 at 2021 1:59 PM2021-01-20T13:59:24-05:002021-01-20T13:59:24-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6677120<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You will most likely not have to go to OSUT, Soldiers without a service break are generally sent to a two week MOS-Q course. All schools are highly dependent on your state, my experience has been that slots to Air Assault and Mountain School are easy to come by, Ranger school are a little bit harder to get, but not out of reach. The Colorado ARNG has the 1-157 IN, they are part of the 86th IBCT, the onl Mountain designated brigade in the Army.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 20 at 2021 2:06 PM2021-01-20T14:06:26-05:002021-01-20T14:06:26-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member6677173<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Without a break in service you shouldn't have to OSUT. <br />Depending on the TRADOC requirements it could be multiple two week phases to reclass.<br />You will probably have to ETS from the USAR and enlist in the ARNG the following day.<br />My advice is get with the ARNG recruiter, if you still have an obligation left you may have to get a conditional release from the USAR to finish your contract with the ARNG.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 20 at 2021 2:28 PM2021-01-20T14:28:07-05:002021-01-20T14:28:07-05:00SGT Benjamin Parsons6677345<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I believe you have to go through the second half of OSUT but you are given special consideration. An E5 reclassified in my cycle and had his own room and access to his POV and such. Getting schools is tricky if your in a line unit because everyone wants slots so you might want to consider getting one guaranteed in your contract if possible. I can say guys who reclass get a lot of respect from current infantryman. Leaving a “cushy” job to come suck with the grunts will earn you the trust of even a tight knit unit. Best of luck!Response by SGT Benjamin Parsons made Jan 20 at 2021 3:29 PM2021-01-20T15:29:11-05:002021-01-20T15:29:11-05:00SPC Erich Guenther6677939<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Most of those schools will be out of reach to you in the National Guard as well unless your unit needs you to be schooled in them. The reason is the National Guard is paid for from a state budget. Ever wonder how Texas gets a SF NG BN and an Airborne BN both for it's NG? Because it can afford it being a large state with a large budget to spend on military. Colorado, not so much in fact I believe all Colorado has is Air Assault but I am not exactly sure on that part. Your best off talking to a Colorado National Guardsman because a NG from another state can give you somewhat of a heads up but that is based on their state only not on Colorado. A Colorado NG Recruiter would be your best bet but also realize a Colorado NG Recruiter can get into trouble if he or she is viewed as picking people up from the Army Reserve to fill NG slots.Response by SPC Erich Guenther made Jan 20 at 2021 6:40 PM2021-01-20T18:40:17-05:002021-01-20T18:40:17-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member6678530<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Gosh I thought 11Bravo was always open!!Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 20 at 2021 10:18 PM2021-01-20T22:18:43-05:002021-01-20T22:18:43-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member6682884<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am the battalion mountain warfare instructor.
