Contact the Security Manager for your unit and/or that facility for clearer guidance. He should expect counseling and the headache of getting it replaced. Most facilities issue turkey badges until a new one can be secured Response by CSM Chuck Stafford made Jan 19 at 2021 8:19 AM 2021-01-19T08:19:56-05:00 2021-01-19T08:19:56-05:00 SGM Private RallyPoint Member 6672545

There's not much you can do to help other than telling him that being scared is a waste of time.
The loss needs to be reported immediately to cancel the badge.
He needs a new badge, and he can probably expect a counseling form that reiterates safeguarding the badge and procedures for lost badges, he might have to provide a copy of that counseling with the paperwork for the replacement badge. If the soldier lost it, he needs to report it now. It will look worse for the soldier if the badge is found and turned in by someone else, or worse someone attempts access with it. The first questions will be when it was lost and why wasn't it reported. The punishment is not the issue. Lost access badges need to be reported immediately as you were briefed when these cards were issued. Why have you not told this soldier to report the loss immediately instead of asking a question that you should know the answer to? Yes you can get UCMJ action, It depends on what the S2 recommends to the CO. The sooner it is reported the less likely for trouble to arise!
