What is the purpose of a category for "Memes" in the list of RallyPoint topics?

A meme is an idea, behavior, or style that becomes a fad and spreads by means of imitation from person to person within a culture and often carries symbolic meaning representing a particular phenomenon or theme. A meme acts as a unit for carrying cultural ideas, symbols, or practices, that can be transmitted from one mind to another through writing, speech, gestures, rituals, or other imitable phenomena with a mimicked theme. Supporters of the concept regard memes as cultural analogues to genes in that they self-replicate, mutate, and respond to selective pressures.
Memes may relate to any topic: Humor, politics, history, motorcycles, etc., etc., etc... Are we to fish through countless postings categorized as "Memes" looking for one that interests us?

CPT Jack Durish A case of a picture being worth a thousand words, or in the case of some memes, about a dozen. I'd prefer to express sentiments in verbal/typed fashion rather than depending on a picture that may not convey the meaning I intend. Maybe it's just because I'm old.

It's simple, the topic tag of meme is a collection of memes that are shared. Some people actually like to scroll through them and by adding the topic it allows all the memes shared here to be collected in one spot, just like any other topic.

SSgt (Join to see) you gotta look at tags like the dewey decimal system that librarys use (or used to use these days). You may think what you post is about whatever topic(s) but after review it doesn't fit. For example, if I post something about cigars but tag "RallyPoint" the RallyPoint tag should and will be removed. I can't speak to every post but that is the general rule.

Oh, I get it. I've been an admin/moderator on various boards for nearly 40 years now. Being a ref in flame wars, participating on occasion. Everything from Star Trek clubs & MUGs (Modem User Groups) to stackoverflow and other technical boards.
I don't know if you have access to the history but *ALL* tags were removed from https://www.rallypoint.com/status-updates/6812843. AT least when I open it now I see no "posted under...". Which means it is now invisible on RP.
