What is the purpose of RallyPoint to you?

I came on here looking for a military forum where military issues were discussed and service members from all branches could ask questions.

It's looking more and more like Facebook with the YouTube links to humor videos and political "propaganda" which has me curious.

Why are you here?

Like any other forum, you're going to have people that believe they can change people's minds regarding politics. The benefit of being here is most all of us have a Military view on all topics.

I wish they would get rid of this asinine points system. Some people are obviously posting shit just to be "one of the cool kids".

CW2 Private RallyPoint Member Chief it's what you make of it.
I've responded to 4 questions today (well 5 with this one), all military, current service members.
If all you see is Facebook with the YouTube links to humor videos and political "propaganda" you're not looking with eyes wide open.

The only issues I really have are 1) anon posters. I don't feel that anyone should be able to post anonymously. 2) the mobile app is slow and clunky. If you compair the RP app to LinkedIn you can realy see where some improvements can be made.

As to RP as a whole, this site was a life saver for me when I was unemployed. Not only did I get some good tips, but it helped me stay sane and keep calm while looking for work. I don't have the time to post like I did when I was unemployed, but I always try and give back to the community that helped me.

To keep up with what's going on in the military today. To offer advice or help with questions when needed. Give a boost to a SM who needs it. The political debates can be rather amusing at times.

I am here for amusement more than anything else. I help where I can but mostly I like interacting with a group of people with a twisted sense of humor lol.

I am here so that I can communicate with servicemembers from all generations. If military issues are being discussed, I'll chime in if I have input. If we're smoking and joking around, then I'll join that too.

I don't care what the topic of discussion is, I am here for the military community.

To connect to other veterans and help with military related issues. I especially like to see new troops asking questions because they are afraid to address it with their chain of command. It's an open door policy here.

It's all about points and a bunch of elitists thinking that lots of points mean you are important to the Rally Point mission statement. Balderdash. That mission crashed and burned long ago. But these points addicts keep playing their little game, convinced they WILL win their free toaster someday!!!

I'm here because I want to be.

Search for topics that fit your needs, concerns or questions, and I think you'll be satisfied with the results. I understand not wanting to read about or comment on a particular type of subject, so I just scroll on.

I don't spend much time on political posts myself, but to some people that's particularly important; especially in this, rather unique election year. The humor posts, particularly "humor in uniform", I appreciate because they are entertaining and do not detract from anything on this site...at all.

There is a wealth of information and experience from a myriad of points of view when it comes to military and veteran topics; many quite serious in nature. But if it were as static and boring as to be restricted only to such things, it would feel like an online symposium proctored by Topic Nazis--not that there aren't already some self-appointed within the PR community--and I'd pop smoke on this place quick, fast and in a hurry.

I'm here for both advice and mentorship, as well as to pass on what wisdom I have gleaned over the (admittedly short) span of my life. I first came to RP to gain wisdom and understanding of the different sides of this career I have so readily sworn my life to.

Primarily a means to communicate with like minded individuals. As I move farther and farther from being on active duty I realize that you just can't find the camaraderie of the military in most civilian organizations. I often found myself searching out new employees with prior military experience regardless of what department they worked in just so that we could compare experiences. After being on RP for a while I've also found it to be an outlet to share my experiences, both military and civilian, with those facing situations similar to mine.

Not sure anymore. I'm seriously thinking about deleting my profile. I see people trying to post legit questions/comments/topics of conversation, but more and more it's becoming a site for "propaganda" as you put it.
I think overall I'm just getting fed up with all forms of social media.
