My DD Form 368 did not get signed in time for the October board and the next board isn't until February. I was told that a lateral transfer to the Reserves might be possible by a Chaplain friend of mine, but my recruiter said that it wasn't. I'm just wondering if anyone knows if a lateral transfer to the Reserves is possible from the National Guard for Chaplain Candidate. The reason for transfer is I am moving out of state, a couple states away, for work and school. I have also heard it is easier to transfer to the active component from the Reserves. Thank you in advance for any information. What is the quickest way to transfer to the Reserves from the National Guard? 2023-10-03T16:06:39-04:00 1LT Private RallyPoint Member 8498671

I am a Chaplain Candidate in the process of trying transferring to the Reserves from the National Guard. I wouldn't say it is easier to go from Reserves or NG to AD, just different processes. I have had candidates (mainly aviation, but a handful of chaplain candidates) go from both 2 and 3 in reletivly easy manner provided idea they followed the process.

Your endorser or Chief of the Chaplain Recruiting Branch, will be better positioned to inform you of what an individual component needs are for the branch and can assist in the transfer on your behalf. Keep in mind, they don't have to, they usually leave ascensions up to the recruiters, but an endorser can wedge into the process presuming you have favorable board results.
