What is the requirement for saluting when reporting to an officer of a different service?

E.G. Army Regulation dictates that an enlisted Soldier will salute an Army Officer when reporting. However, what if an enlisted Soldier were to report to a Navy or USMC Officer, when both the Navy and Marine Corps specifically do not salute indoors? Any and all help appreciated.

Son, when in Rome, do as the Romans do (old adage). Others gave you good advise on that. Another thing; never, never wear a cover into a Navy club. The ship's bell will be rung and you'll have to buy the house a round. You don't get paid enough as a junior to survive those hits on a regular basis.

Great advice sir, thank you. Will keep in mind for the future.
Stand at attention and show Military bearing and you should be good to go. No good leader will ridicule you on customs and courtesy but instead teach you the unique and specific attributes per branch/ location.
These particular customs and courtesies are universal.
PROTIP: You salute the officers of foreign allied nations as well.

SGM Frank Marsh - comes with time and experiencve working in other countries. Before setting foot in any country, one should study and memorize that countries rank insignias... Jus basic common courtesy and professional respect.

SFC Michael Hasbun - lol when in doubt Solute. Better to be a bit embarassed then not Solute and it turns out to be an Officer. Officers can be a bit bent out of shape if they don't get their solutes.

Corpsmen laughed at us for saluting them while in Marine Corps boot camp. Their insignia can be confusing.
