What is the selection rate for ROTC cadets getting active duty Army?

Does anyone know what the selection rate for active duty will be like this year? I’m currently a MS4 waiting for competent release and I’m getting a little anxious. Are my chances of getting active duty good?

If you have a solid OML score then you’ll basically get what you want (besides maybe aviation because it’s super competitive). Everyone in my graduating class got their #1 branch choice and their component of choice. If you don’t get active when they get released you can apply for an ADSO which will extend your service but will give you a much better chance of locking down what you want.

Robert S Worst case you can join a reserve or guard unit with the branch you want and volunteer. If you are competitive, you can pursue AGR or ADSO and have another chance at AD.

No Idea, as an Alumni of UT ROTC there were 5 last June went active and 9 were NG/USAR out of a class of 45.

Every year is different; but it usually is 50 + % get Active duty to fill the ranks. This number is affected by the number of Guaranteed Reserve Force Duty contracts (USAR&NG) in the system for your accessions year group and the number of commissions they need on AD your year. Once that cut is made; then those Cadets are branched. The past five year trend is 90-95% get thier top three choices and many of those get thier #1 or #2 choice. It is all about your OML score in the end. Every year the cutoff for AD is different and your PMS should have counseled you on where your final score is and how that stacks up against previous years and also against the range of your branch choices against previous years branch selection numbers. Get with your PMS or HRA and ask them where you stand and they won’t make a diffinitve answer but can give you a feel for where they think you shake out.

I read once that it's near 50%.
Realistically, like any Army selection they stack all the candidates in an OML and fill the vacancies with the top performers. It's the same process for any selection or board with limited vacancies ie promotion, OCS, WOCS, IPAP, PT Baylor, etc.
Your chances are better in years the Army is growing, worse in years they are shrinking.

If you get branched reserves, you can also attempt to find a unit that may mobilize or deploy. Volunteering for a short active duty stint while drilling may be an option.

Robert - It changes year-to-year based on the needs of the Army, however -- school PMS have access to an Accessions Brief that gives this kind of data for their program, and, ROTC overall. When I was a PMS, I use to show my MSIVs, and later, the whole battalion, portions of this presentation to answer just these kinds of Qs - so that Cadets knew the playing field. You might ask about that.

Well we already found out your component like 2 days ago so you should already know what you got. every year the points change. last year, the cut off score was like 39 points. This year the points dropped to like 36 points. I am just more worried about the branch and post that I will get since I didn't make the cut off for top 10 percent. It was like 76 points this year for 10 percent, but I ADSO for branch and post.
