I enlisted as an 09S (Officer Candidate) and completed Basic and OCS. My initial enlistment contract was 6x2 (6 years drilling, 2 years inactive).

Since I'm no longer enlisted and don't have an ETS date, how is my separation date determined? Does it go back to the original 6 year mark on my enlisted contract? What is the service obligation for National Guard officers? How is my separation date determined? 2020-01-21T19:32:17-05:00 2LT Private RallyPoint Member 5468092

Hello everyone,

I'm a little confused about my service obligation as a commissioned officer in the Army National Guard. Such as scholarship, flight school, or general officer entry obligation. General obligation is generally four to six years, depending if you signed up for more time by requesting branch preference, or duty location- unlikely if you are a Guardsman. Your state G1 will have a timeline for that but I would expect you would need to give 6-9 months notice for approval.
