What is the timeline to go from civilian to commissioned officer in the Army Reserve?

I just began talking to a recruiter as well as putting an OCS Reserve packet together. I'm curious as to what the timeline looks like after the board (I will go for the board in March). Will I have to go to BCT pretty quickly or will it take a few months to process? After BCT, will I go immediately to OCS or will I go back home and wait a few months before going? Or does it all depend on a case-by-case basis?

*I don't know if training is back to back or not (in the Reserve) because I know for the National Guard, you go to BCT then go home and continue working and can do OCS once a month, or do the accelerated course, or do Federal OCS.Wed, 10 Jan 2018 18:56:57 -0500What is the timeline to go from civilian to commissioned officer in the Army Reserve?

The short answer is “it depends.”

A lot of it has to do with available slots. I have many friends who went from enlisted to officer. So they already had BCT, but when they attended OCS varied a lot, depending on their individual circumstances.SMSgt Thor MerichThu, 11 Jan 2018 11:44:28 -05002018-01-11T11:44:28-05:002018-01-10T18:56:57-05:00
