What is the VA Move Program? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/what-is-the-va-move-program

I am not a VA Move Coordinator but was a volunteer in this program at the VA hospital in Palo Alto CA a few years ago to study the effects of diet and exercise for healthy living. And may be able to answer some questions about how important diet is for an overall Fitness Program. But talking to your VA Care Provider is probably better if you are serious about changing your eating habits to maintain a healthy life style. You may have to have a complete physical exam before beginning this program at the VA.

Basically the Move Program suggests decreasing fat from your diet and increasing cardio exercises. Hope this helps to answers some of the questions from the recent discussion I started "Is Staying Fit Hard For You?" & the VA Move Program & Green Diet was mentioned. What is MOVE!?
A. MOVE! is VA's national weight management program developed for Veterans by the National Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (NCP). MOVE! is an evidence-based self-management program that focuses on health and wellness through healthy eating, physical activity, and behavior change. MOVE! can help you lose weight, keep it off, and improve your health. Every VA Medical Center has a dedicated MOVE! Coordinator who is available to assist you. If you are interested in losing weight and want to participate in MOVE!, talk to your local MOVE! Coordinator or VA provider who can help you get started.

http://www.move.va.gov/QandA.asp

MOVE! He was able to lose 60+pounds. He was and should be very proud of that. If you need a program to help educate you on creating better eating habits and exercise for veterans then check into your VA Move program. I was not doing exercise and gained weight. I was at 248 ponds, with the move program, I was able to lose pounds in months. I learned to record my food, learned to know what was good and what was bad for me to me. No food is off limits, it is the amount. So nutrition and exercise plans are the tools to lose weight. The six month lost was aided by the Optic Fast diet. It is a liquid diet for 10 weeks and then you learn to eat proper portions. Benefits are lose of weight, healthy exercise plans. and once a month group meeting.
