What is one thing that you learned that benefitted you as a supervisor and leader? Has this helped in civilian life for veterans and retirees?<br /><br />I remember our PME in the Air Force and in managing others. A young troop (an NCO) was given a new and much nicer desk and he became agitated. His own supervisors found out that he loved that desk and the change got him out of his comfort zone. Being aware of these small things seem to bear themselves out in the long run. IMHO.<br /><br />Learning how to deal with management issues. The pictures below are officers. lol. Just kidding!! It was...enlightening. Unfortunately for me, there was very little enthusiasm for it when I tried sharing the idea with some of our senior enlisted leaders. I think they need to be taught more Military History. As an example The Trinity of the Passion of the People, The Rational Government, and Military Acumen describes many wars. Taking a course of counterinsurgency will let you think of different insurgencies. WWII is a great example on how wars are conducted and the failures experienced.
