What is the worst job in the military?

It's all a matter of personal perspective, Sir. I love being a 15T, but someone else might hate it. I wouldn't want to be a cook or 25 series, but there are people out there that love it.

As far as tasks.... digging a fighting position with an e-tool sucks. So does cutting the grass with scissors and painting rocks.

To get down and dirty,KP in the consolidated mess,reception center Ft.Dix N.J. suck is just too mild an expression for this “worst job”,getting ready for an IG inspection is a cake walk in comparison!

Worst "job" I ever had in the Marine Corps.......well, there has been so many. As a PFC I once had to dig a fighting hole with a spoon, uh...policing cigarette butts with a pair of tweezers, lets see I had to sweep up dirt off of grass once that was fun. I had to vacuum the parking lot one day because the entire company "failed" field day.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member from my experience being a casualty assistance officer and having to notify next of kin of the death of a serviceman and helping the spouse work through the processes after death was the most personally challenging.
I learned to enjoy KP since I got to eat more when I was an enlisted man :-)
Police call was challenging but it performed a useful function - much of the time - except for painting rocks :-)

Anything the involves being a "shit-burner." Many of us have actually been treated to such an assignment. Whew!
In my experience I have to say being a wheeled vehicle mechanic in Korea during the winter. I don't care how much shelter was provided, it was not enough. (Shelter in the motorpool in Korea was slightly less than a joke.)

I loved being a transporter and I especially loved air transportation. However, fleet service is not fun stuff especially when the latrines have overflowed or the fleet service truck hose isn't connecting properly or...you get the picture.

Well I'm not going to say an actual trained position, but I'd say our secondary functions as general custodial staff sucks a lot.

I can remember one incident where someone plugged the 2nd floor toilet and they needed someone to clean the overflowing human feces off the floor. Cue lowest man on the totem pole.

I just feel like people are intentionally nasty in the bathrooms because they know they don't have to clean it.

I certainly toss my hat in on bringing a fellow SM home for the final time. Yes, that and the burn outs. Gives new meaning to "I love the smell of ....... in the morning." We had a funny variation of that in Antarctica. The common expeditionary thing was to cut a 55 gal drum in half lengthways. You'd have a frame for it and slide it into the back side of the poop shed. Everything would freeze of course. When it got full, you'd fork lift it out and put an empty back in. We tended to call these things "Sliders" because that frozen mass could slide a long ways on the sea ice. I remember a Seabee getting tangled with one, and it was melting, in his face. We helped him out after a bit when we concluded negotiations on the beer tab that night.
