What is there to know about AWG (Asymmetric Warfare Group)? There is not much info on this SMU.

AWG is not an SMU and don't fall under the traditional chain of command for an SMU. They are also not "operators" -- you won't be kicking down any doors at AWG or conducting overseas offensive missions. AWG is actually a TRADOC unit, and is comprised of experienced warfighters who help TRADOC in three primary ways according to their web site:

Operational Advising: Support Army and Joint Force Commanders by advising and assisting predeployment and in-theater forces to enable the defeat of current and emerging threats.

Identify Capability Gaps: Provide observations and analyses of regional operating environments to identify capability gaps and describe potential conflict zones relevant to future Army requirements.

Solution Development: Rapidly develop, disseminate and transition nonmaterial and material countermeasures to create tactical and operational advantages in support of Unified Land Operations.

It's mission is:
"The AWG provides operational advisory support globally and rapid solution development to the Army and Joint Force commanders to enhance Soldier survivability and combat effectiveness, and enable the defeat of current and emerging threats in support of Unified Land Operations.'

When it came out years ago, we found it to be a waste of time, money and energy. It was a bunch of ideologies drafted by some brass and senior NCOS in thinking of how the modern battlefield should be engaged. It was a matter of opinion pushed on FORCCOM that was rejected as impractical during the 08-12 deployment cycles. That is why you are not finding too much on it.

AWG is a training group. I was classified as being in an AWG while at Fort Irwin. I had been on multiple deployments already and I assisted the NCO'S and junior officers with all fassets of there upcoming deployment. From actually trigger time, troop movements, gathering information, and using that info to carry out raids etc.....
