What is the red half circle under the American flag and above the 82nd Patch at this point in the video? Recently saw it in another documentary series also focusing on the 82nd.

That isn't a patch. It is the end of a tourniquet. Many units have it as a part of their SOPs that you keep your first option tourniquet in that pocket with the end hanging out so that it is easy to get to. Some of the tourniquet designs include a red tab at the end of the ribbon and some don't.

This. The SOP of many units is to have 2 CAT (Combat Application Tourniquet) in cross corners of the body. The soldier in the video likely has one on the outside calf pocket of his left leg. In addition, the IFAK also carries one as well.

Very strange. Perhaps it was the angle of view, but that red (whatever it was) appeared to be partially under the flag patch.
